Let's delve into the history of Everlast. The name Everlast has become synonymous with boxing. Originally established as a swimwear manufacturer in 1910, Everlast gained international acclaim as a leading producer of boxing equipment. Founded in the Bronx, NY, by Jacob Golomb at the young age of 17, the company started off as a response to Jacob's dissatisfaction with the lack of durability in swimsuits. Determined to create suits that could withstand more than a single season, he proudly named them Everlast. Although the swimsuits didn't endure the test of time, the name certainly did.
Over the years, Golomb expanded his company, transforming it into a small retail store offering a comprehensive range of sports equipment. In 1917, Golomb's path crossed with the aspiring boxer Jack Dempsey, who approached him with a request for protective headgear that could withstand rounds of demanding training. Golomb rose to the challenge and customized training gear for Dempsey. In 1919, Dempsey won the world heavyweight championship wearing boxing gloves crafted by Golomb. Everlast swiftly became the go-to destination for boxing equipment worldwide.
In 1925, Golomb revolutionized boxing attire by introducing elastic-waist trunks to replace the traditional leather-belted trunks worn by boxers. These trunks, now known as boxer trunks, gained instant fame. Jacob Golomb continued to lead the business until his passing in the early 1950s, at which point his son Dan assumed control. In 1958, Ben Nadorf joined Everlast, purchasing 50% of the company from the Golomb family. Following Dan Golomb's demise in 1995, Nadorf acquired the remaining 50% stake held by the family. Nadorf served as the president and principal shareholder of Everlast until October 24, 2000.
Today, Everlast's men's and women's apparel and accessories continue to experience tremendous success both in and out of the ring. Additionally, Everlast's boxing trunks and equipment remain unrivaled champions of the boxing industry for over 90 years. The legacy of Everlast continues, as the name itself suggests. With a rich history and a promising future, Everlast stands tall as the ultimate companion for your boxing journey. Experience the durability and performance of Everlast's Durahide punching bags designed for speed training.
